Kim Richmond and I have been friends since high school in Champaign, Illinois, where we both played clarinet. Since then, he's had a long, distinguished career as a performer, arranger, composer, conductor, and educator based in Los Angeles. Here Kim's own ensemble plays at the famed Lighthouse Cafe in Hermosa Beach CA, which has hosted live jazz since the 1950s.
